This page will serve as a place to answer commonly encountered problems. Think of it as a more frequently updated FAQ page (that one would best serve as a general faq about the mod, and rarely update).

My item won't craft!Edit

This is a pretty common problem that can have several different causes.

  • Make sure you are running the latest version of tConfig. While this wouldn't explicitly cause a problem, it's always nice to have the latest version.
  • Make sure to re-compile using tConfig after editing any code before starting the game.
  • Make sure your mod is enabled. If not, nothing will show up, of course. If you are able to craft other items from the same mod, this won't be the problem. (Unless you didn't run tConfig on your mod after making changes to it.)
  • This goes with above. If you can make other items, the file structure is fine, but if you're just starting out this can be an issue.
  • When in doubt, copy a similar item's recipe, or try making it with simple ingredients like wood. If you make a single typo in the recipe, it will either not be craftable or have no crafting requirements.
  • This shouldn't be an issue, but if you have hundreds and hundreds of craftable items, you may hit an item cap.

My Projectile doesn't do any damage!Edit

Make sure you also include an owner when you create it.

public static void UseItem(Player p, int pID)
        x, y, velx, vely, type, damage, knockbac, p.WhoAmI

Parsing ErrorEdit

This usually happens when you made a typo in your .ini file. Pay special attention to the recipe, as this is where it is likely to happen.

Items = 1 Gel, 1 Bottle, 1 Mushroom

Items = 1 Gel,1 Bottle,1 Mushroom

What it looks like: it no work

Parsing Error

Parser Error

Another common error is to not capitalise recipe ingredients. For example:

Items = 1 gel,1 bottle,1 mushroom

Hash Value IncorrectEdit

This problem is really common and is caused generally by Terraria's updates. For fix this, you need to delete "TerrariaOriginalBackup.exe" from Terraria's main folder in the "Steam\steamapps\common\terraria" directory and then reinstall tConfig.

Mods Not Being Seen IngameEdit

  • Make sure you compiled your mod using tConfig before running the game. If your game is already open, close it and restart it.

In the future, please use the comments at the bottom of the page to ask questions. That said, it should be simply due to bad file structure.
